Dogs are known as man’s best friend for a good number of reasons. Apart from being loyal fur companions, they’re also quick to learn several tricks. In fact, some of these tricks can prove to be surprisingly useful in times of need. Take for instance something as simple as helping you satisfy your food cravings. Such was the case for Antonio Munoz who sent his dog on a mission of buying him a bag of Cheetos. Desperate times call for desperate measures, eh?

Health organizations all over the world have been continuously urging the public to stay home unless absolutely necessary. While it may seem a simple act, it’s an effective way of slowing down the spread of the virus. Indeed, in the midst of the ongoing pandemic, it’s the last thing we could do to contribute to the solution.

Meet Antonio Munoz, a guy who unlocked an ingenious way of satisfying his craving while on quarantine

Staying home is relatively easy… when you have everything you need at hand. Say, grocery supplies, toiletries, medicines, and all the technical requirements for you to be able to work from home. It’s a bonus if you’re currently staying with your family and loved ones. But if not, there’s always a way to connect with them, thanks to technology.

However, things might get a bit more difficult when an impulse kicks in. Yup, we’re talking about sudden food cravings that you certainly have no control over. So, what do you do when your body suddenly decides that it wants some junk food? Do you simply shrug the idea off? Or do you find a way to satisfy it? Well, if you have a fur buddy at home, then he or she might be the solution to your dilemma.

Apparently, Antonio Munoz couldn’t help but succumb to his craving. On the other hand, he also couldn’t risk exposing himself to the virus out there. So, he decided to send his chihuahua on a special mission. That is, to get him some junk food from the shop just across the street. In a Facebook post, he wrote, “Day three of quarantine. I wanted my Cheetos.”

Being a responsible fur parent, he equipped his dog with all the necessary “weapons” before deploying her

“Hello Mr. Shopkeeper. Please sell my dog some Cheetos, the orange kind, not the red ones, they’re too hot. She has $20 attached to her collar. WARNING: She will bite if not treated right. Your front neighbor.”

Lo and behold, the tiny pooch accomplished the mission and went home with a bag of Cheetos

Among the most common misconceptions about chihuahuas is that they’re untrainable “purse” dogs that are merely for showing off. Evidently, this doesn’t hold true for our case at hand. According to chihuahua breeder Patricia Johanson, chihuahuas have earned themselves quite a reputation “for being feisty, snappy, difficult to potty train, and loud.”

However, she clarified that “individuals differ significantly from one another within the breed.” She also noted that chihuahuas are among the highly trainable dog breeds out there.

“They can definitely be trained and there are plenty of chihuahuas in competitive sports, shows, and in movies, showing that they absolutely can be trained to advanced levels.”

In addition, she stressed the importance of positive reinforcement when training chihuahuas.

“The goal is for your dog to repeat behaviors that earn their rewards, like treats or affection. Rewards can include food, special treats, praise, and petting, playing with a favorite toy and so on.”

Here’s how people reacted to the story

Low bar: dog gets you a beer from the fridge.
High bar: dog commutes to get you snacks, returns with change.
