Over the years, Skittles has presented us with plenty of different ways to taste the rainbow. And while their mainstay flavors are always a welcome addition in our secret snack stash at home or in the office, we always look forward to snagging their latest special offer. People say that you’d find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. But Skittles begs to differ because they’ve got the Skittles Smoothies Mix at the end of theirs!
The Smoothies Mix isn’t exactly a brand-new offering. In fact, you might remember popping these in your mouth 15 years ago, when it first hit shelves in 2005. Back then, the Skittles came in a pastel peach-colored bag that certainly piqued everyone’s curiosity. The offering featured five flavors: Strawberry Banana, Lemon Berry, Mixed Berry, Peach Pear and Orange Mango. We managed to find a review from The Impulsive Buy’s archives, and in their review written on March 2005, they said:
“With most of the combinations, I felt that one flavor really overpowered the other. For example, the Orange Mango flavor, I could mostly taste orange. With the Peach Pear, I could mostly taste the pear. Overall, I thought the Smoothies Mix Skittles were good.”

The Smoothies Mix is back after being gone for 15 years
The brand pulled the Smoothies Mix from shelves some time after introducing it to the market. And this definitely left some wondering if they were ever going to see or snack on them again. It’s been a long time coming, but the Smoothies Mix is back, and it’s reportedly better than before! For its comeback, the Smoothies Mix will comprise of Strawberry Banana, Blueberry, Peach Guava and Mango flavors.
According to a PR rep, this revamped candy offering contains a creamy, yogurt-like flavoring ingredient mixed with fruit flavoring that’ll remind your taste buds of fruit smoothies. Aside from its revamped flavors, Mars has also re-dressed the offering. Instead of coming in a pastel peach-colored bag, the Smoothies Mix is now pretty in pink! (Wonder what The Impulsive Buy will have to say about this new color?) We’ve got high hopes that they’ve managed to tweak the little flavor imbalance that TIB noted in 2005.

The only way to find out is by trying it out ourselves. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait another decade and a half to get our hands on this treat because it’s been confirmed that the Smoothies Mix will be hitting US shelves in early August in three different sizes. You’ll find this returning Skittles offering in single size (1.76oz), share size (4oz) and sharing size (15.6oz). Which among the new flavors are looking to forward to trying the most?
