Pepsi Blue is undeniably one of the most iconic soft drink variants ever released on the market. Unfortunately, it didn’t enjoy a long life and lasted only from 2002 to 2004. Nevertheless, fans of this electric blue drink remain hopeful that it will hit the shelves again someday. Well, it seems like the time has finally come, as rumors about its comeback have started making rounds on the internet.
Apparently, it all started five months ago when Reddit user TigersFan1872 shared a screenshot captured during a certain video conference meeting. The photo featured a slide that seemed to be part of PepsiCo’s product planning presentation for 2021. It detailed specific plans for the berry-flavored cola, including its eight-week limited-time release this summer. In addition, it indicated that the drink will be available in 20-ounce bottles as well as in 0.5-liter six-packs.

Looking back, it can be recalled that the company introduced this drink to compete against Coca-Cola’s Vanilla Coke. Unfortunately, controversies surrounded the drink due to its use of the food dye Blue No. 1. At the time, many countries had banned the use of Blue 1, also known as Brilliant Blue, for health concerns. Moreover, various new sources have attributed that the drink’s marketing strategies didn’t sit well with savvy consumers.
Despite these issues in the past, many people have expressed their excitement over the drink’s rumored comeback. One user commented, “No way. This is my favorite Pepsi. I’m so excited!” Another user wrote, “If this is true, I will drive for hours to get my hands on as many bottles as possible.” Meanwhile, another user estimated the release to be on May 24th, 2021, “I did my calculations and P6 is weeks 21-24.” Well, we can only hope that PepsiCo confirms these speculations soon!
