Clouds are always a fascinating sight to see. Just imagine yourself looking at the fluffy clouds in the sky on a warm, sunny day. Ah, it’s just so relaxing. What if you could have your own personal indoor clouds at home? Well, we’ve got great news for you. The wonderful people behind the lifestyle blog Like a Riot has come up with a DIY floating cloud light. They’re more than willing to share us the steps to help us create our own.
These cloud lights look just like the real thing. Plus, they’re so easy to assemble. The best part? All the materials you will need are affordable, not to mention available at your local craft store or hardware store. That said, you might even end up filling your entire room with them! Well, it is a unique way to light up your home this holiday season. Since they’re super pretty, you’d probably have them all year round.
So, here are the materials you will need: a white pendant lamp, two 12cm Styrofoam balls, bastelwatte or fiberfill, screw hooks, glue gun, and cable ties. You may also add some LED string lights to create a storm effect. Do note that in this project, the most important material is the fiberfill. This is the synthetic fiber that will give your lamp its cloud-like appearance, so make sure you don’t forget that!
To start off, affix the screw hooks to the styrofoam balls. This way, you’ll be able to hang the finished product to your ceiling. Next, attach the balls to both sides of the lamp. Then, this is where the fun part begins. Take small pieces of the fiberfill and simply attach them all over the lamp and balls. You can have it as fluffy as you want. Just make sure you use enough glue to hold them in place.
Afterward, you can proceed to hang it on your ceiling. A few LED string lights can be added under the fixture. To do this, secure the string lights into the inner supports of the lamp using cable ties. Then, do an illumination test and see if you’ve already covered all areas with fiberfill. There you have it, your DIY levitating cloud lamp!
