Tattoo Artist Jesse Rix Creates Amazing Optical Illusion Tattoos That Look Like There’s Another World Inside

As the famous Latin proverb goes ‘Mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur’ which means ‘The world wants to be deceived, so let it be deceived.’ Artists have their own way of deceiving the world with visual tricks and the world indeed loved it. From street art and paintings to sculptures and makeup, trompe l’oeil style has taken the art world by storm. Artist Jesse Rix from Keene, New Hampshire brings this mesmerizing technique into the tattoo industry with his optical illusion tattoos that are guaranteed to trick the eyes and confuse the brain.

Rix has been tattooing since 2004 and opened his own studio in 2005 where he mostly do custom tattoos. Like any other artists in various genres, Rix has developed his very own technique and style that identifies him from other tattoo artists. He is now popularly known for his perplexing optical illusion tattoos featuring blocks that appear to pull out from the skin to reveal hidden worlds beneath.

The innovative artist cleverly uses fine lines, tones, and shadings to create perspective and convey a realistic vision of the blocks cracking away from the surface of the skin. Blocks are mostly depicted in hexagons and cubes that seem to be pulling away to reveal fantastical scenes underneath. Cosmic-inspired worlds, pop culture references, breathtaking natural landscapes, and spellbinding images open up to transport the viewer’s eyes into a different realm.
