Of all the adorable things to originate from Japan, there’s no denying that their native dogs rank high on the list. Japanese pop culture may be more cat-centric these days, but their adorable pooches aren’t falling behind. In fact, they’re winning hearts all over the world almost every day too! Take for example Uni the Shiba Inu! This adorable doggo’s warm smile is so contagious that he can probably convert even the most kuudere (Japanese descriptive term used to describe someone with an indifferent personality) person around!

Uni the Shiba Inu is always smiling
Uni was born in 2019, and currently lives together with his doting humans in Tokyo, Japan. This smiley-faced pup caught the eye of the internet around September 2020, and now he’s got over 132K followers on Instagram. His fur-parents lovingly call him “Uni-tan”, the honorific “tan” is a cute variation of the “chan” honorific that the Japanese use. The address intended to mimic a child’s mispronunciation, and it fits Uni perfectly, because he is literally his furparents’ furbaby!
The proud fur-parents of Uni have already mastered the art of taking candid pictures of their pooch. But they don’t always have to have their cameras ready to snap a photo. Uni has also mastered the art of sitting still and smiling for the camera! And while his adorable smile is charming enough, his cosplay costumes and clothes certainly elevate the overall charm. In his latest picture, Uni is seen wearing a cow hat. It’s definitely a cute way to welcome the Year of the Ox!

This Shiba Inu is almost always dressed to impress
Aside from their marvelously magnetizing personality, another asset that Shiba Inu dogs have is their plush double fur coat. This allows them to remain in a happy and comfortable disposition despite the coldest days of winter.
