Breaux’s 2,500 square foot shipping container home is located on McGowen Street in Houston. His eye-catching home is constructed with 11 shipping containers which are stacked on top of each other to create a three-story house. There is even a rooftop deck. From the outside, it may look like a towering pile of steel containers. Once you step inside, the luxurious interior will amaze you.
Breaux has been planning to build his dream house since 2000. Back then, he hired a group of home designers to create his three-story abode. However, the designers and Breaux failed to agree on how the house should be built on the lot. So, he had no choice but to fire the group after months without progression. In 2011, Breaux finally decided to design and build his dream house himself.
A shipping container house was the first thing that popped into his mind. Due to shipping container architecture growing in popularity due to its low cost, inherent strength, weather resistance and wide availability. Breaux started by creating a 3D sketch of the three-story house complete with a rooftop deck. Since he is not a professional builder, he spent many hours learning how to construct a shipping container home. As he began the construction, he also documented the development of his house project through his blog. After years of building he finally completed his impressive home.
