Crochets are typically ‘grandma’s things’ but this particular boy will show you that even kids can enjoy it too. In today’s era where technology has taken over, it’s rare to see kids doing hobbies such as crocheting. They would rather stick to their phones and other electronic gadgets than to do recreations. So it’s really surprising to see some kids ditching their gizmos and doing something more creative. Just like Jonah Larson, an 12-year-old boy who is making it big on the internet right now. His impressive crocheting skills have captured the attention of people and photos of his works have already gone viral. As of this writing, his Instagram page has almost 180k followers and his YouTube channel has more than 33K subscribers.

Jonah Larson, an 12-year-old boy born in Ethiopia, began crocheting when he was 5 years old

This crocheting prodigy was born in Ethiopia. But Jonah Larson found a new home in Wisconsin when he was adopted by a beautiful family. He started showing his fascination in crochets when he was 5 years old. By watching YouTube video tutorials, Johan taught himself how to crochet. Soon after, he was able to master the craft and he began creating blankets, scarves, table runners, and many more.

His mother, Jennifer Larson, helped him start his crocheting business and named it Jonah’s Hands. Jennifer doesn’t crochet but she lends a hand by managing her son’s Instagram and YouTube account. After Jonah’s works were posted online, thousands of people began flocking to his posts. Followers and subscribers keep on increasing, resulting to an overwhelming amount of orders. Apparently, a 6th grader can’t possibly fulfill enormous orders from thousands of people. So, Jennifer has to decline some of the orders.

Here are some of his most impressive projects

Jonah’s Hands has been steadily receiving profits due to consistent orders. But Jennifer leaves his son with the decision to do whatever he wants with the profits. Jonah, in return, decides to spend the money on buying crochet materials. Also, he regularly donates some of it to the Ethiopian orphanage where he came from. The crocheting community also showed its support to Jonah’s noble cause and some of them even sent him custom hooks. You can also show your support by donating to his campaign.

Currently, Jonah is working on a book about crocheting

Despite his passion in crocheting, Jonah Larson makes sure he doesn’t neglect his school duties. As a matter of fact, he tested high on an IQ test, making him skip a grade. He is indeed a bright kid. With the help of his mother, he is currently working on a book Hello, Crochet Friends! He aims to encourage other kids to embrace the leisure of crocheting. This hobby has totally changed his life because he was able to help other children in need. And he hopes to help more people in the future by becoming a doctor someday.
