There may be different brands of kitchen knife sets out there, but they often look just like one another. So, if you’re searching for one that not only does the job but looks incredibly stunning as well, then the Deglon Meeting Knife Set is for you. Designed by Mia Schmallenbach, this set gives the traditional kitchen tool an entirely new and unique twist.
At a glance, the set looks just like a typical block of stainless steel. However, upon closer inspection, you’ll see that it actually consists of high-quality, stainless-steel nested knives of varying sizes and types. These include a 3-1/4-inch paring knife, a 5-1/4-inch utility knife, an 8-inch chef knife and an 8-3/4-inch slicer. All these knives fit perfectly into a matching base, creating the illusion that it’s just a single stainless-steel block.
The Deglon Meeting Knife Set features a unique nested design that will give you major “knife-ception” vibes
To remove any knife from the set, all you have to do is press the tip of the blade and lift the knife by its handle. Do note that as with any other knives, these pieces are not dishwasher safe, so it’s best to wash them by hand. The brand also recommends occasionally sharpening the blades with steel to enjoy the knives’ full benefits.
In a way, this knife set’s design concept is comparable to that of matryoshka dolls. Indeed, this unique set offers a sleek and space-saving way of storing your knives. And although it consists of four pieces, the overall set measures only 13.5″ long, 3.5″ wide and 0.15″ thick. So, that’s only about the size of a standard chef knife!
Given the set’s unique concept and exceptional craftsmanship, it comes as no surprise that it bagged the first prize at the 5th European Cutlery Design Awards in 2006. One happy buyer wrote:
“Simply put, these are the best knives I have ever used. They fit neatly in your hand and the edge is something dreamed of.”
