In the world of felines, there are no such things as deformities or abnormalities. But rather, these are considered as unique features that make them even more special. Just like this cat with four ears from Turkey who is currently taking social media by storm. Meet Midas, the four-month old kitten who was born with an extra set of ears due to a recessive genetic mutation. Her owner Canis Dosemeci decided to show the special kitten for the world to see by creating an Instagram page where they can share cute photos of the four-eared feline. Thanks to her remarkable features, Midas quickly became a social media star.
Pics of the cat with four ears instantly grabbed the attention of people on the internet. Apparently, many people wanted to know more about the special kitten and how her unusual feature came to be. Dosemeci explained that they found the newborn Midas in a backyard in Ankara, Turkey. The young feline was found alongside five siblings. But it was Midas who immediately caught their eyes due to her extra set of small ears located in front of her normal ears.
Dosemeci did the right thing of rescuing the abandoned kittens. But they later realized that the cat with four ears might have a lower chance of getting adopted due to her unique condition. So, they decided to adopt her and took her to the veterinarian right away.
Thorough examination revealed that the abnormality was caused by a genetic mutation. That four-eared kitten also appeared to have a defective jaw because of this condition. What’s more surprising was that two extra earlaps are functional because they are connected to the ear canal just like her two normal earlaps.
Despite her unusual appearance, the vet assured that her condition won’t affect her health or sense of hearing. True enough, Midas is growing up healthy and enjoying life just like any normal kitty would. Midas now shares a loving home with the Dosemeci family along with her Golden Retriever brothers who love her dearly. As more and more people follow her on Instagram, Dosemeci also keeps on encouraging everyone to rescue pets rather than buying them.
