If you’re going to ask us who our favorite actor is, both on and off camera, it’s Patrick Stewart. Amidst these difficult times, the multi-awarded English actor finds a way to soothe his online fans thru social media. In order to slow down the spread of the contagious coronavirus, everyone is advised to self-quarantine and practice social distancing. Thankfully, we have the convenience of the internet and social media. Even when we’re confined inside our homes, we could still keep in touch with our loved ones and friends. Furthermore, various online platforms allow businesses to resume as usual as they allow office workers to work from home.

For celebrities such as Sir Patrick Stewart, social media is their only medium to keep their fans and followers updated. The veteran actor understands that everyone is extremely worried and scared about the current pandemic crisis. During these troubled times, he knew that inspiring words and uplifting messages could make a huge difference. So, he decided to share video clips of him reciting Shakespeare’s Sonnets on his Instagram page.

The legendary actor was later overwhelmed by positive response from his fans. “When I was a child in the 1940s, my mother would cut up slices of fruit for me (there wasn’t much) and as she put it in front of me she would say: ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away.’ How about, ‘A sonnet a day keeps the doctor away?’”, Patrick Stewart writes on Instagram.

Patrick Stewart continues to recite Shakespeare’s Sonnets while in self-isolation and shares every video on Instagram. Every day, the actor delivers a new sonnet from Shakespeare’s Sonnets and Poems book. And his fans are looking forward for more inspiring sonnets in the voice of their favorite actor. Shakespeare’s Sonnets is composed of 154 sonnets where each piece is formed in a one-stanza, 14-line poem written in iambic pentameter.
