We’ve seen many artists made a shift towards a different artistic style as they try to adapt to what style is in-demand or simply to explore the concept of identity. Istanbul-based artist Ahmet Cambaz, on the other hand, decided to keep his original artistic style but opted to change his choice of canvas. A former cartoonist, Cambaz decided to bring his ink from paper to human skin and has proven himself as a formidable ink artist with his cute tattoos that are so bright and artistic.
After working as a cartoonist for 7 years, Cambaz was introduced to tattooing when his wife gifted him a tattoo equipment set in 2013. That opened a new door for his artistic talent. He initially considered changing his art style to keep up with the coolest and most intricate body art which is currently on trend. However, he realized that his new style doesn’t represent him at all. And since adorable, stylized cartoon is the style that defines him, he decided to apply his original artistic technique into body art. The results are cute tattoos that are reminiscent of lovable characters in children storybooks.

“When I started to design tattoos, I tried to work in different styles using various methods, but I didn’t feel comfortable because I was not that person. It wasn’t me,” says Cambaz. “So I decided to go on and develop my work and create the kind of tattoos that I like.”
He now lends his original characters to adorn the body of his clients with subjects ranging from cute animals to cartoon-like people and scenes that are delightfully charming. Every now and then, he also makes familiar cartoon characters such as Snoopy, Road Runner, the Minions, Sesame Street characters, Studio Ghibli characters, Disney references, and more.
