An artwork doesn’t need to be colorful and intricate to be considered stunning. While these graphical attributes greatly contribute to the outcome, there’s still something about simplicity that is irresistibly eye-catching. Just like these pointillist line drawings. By using only a pen, Canada-based artist Christa Rijneveld can create beautiful drawings of mountains. And instead of drawing elaborate details, she uses lines and dots to illustrate the beauty of mountainous landscapes.

Smooth flowing lines in various spacing, direction, and thickness give details to the silhouette of mountains. Viewers feel as though their eyes also move along with the lines as they stare at the pointillist line drawings. In the background, dots adorn the sky instead of blue sky and clouds. Just like the lines in the mountains, the dots in the sky are rendered in different sizes to achieve perspective. But the dots are drawn in uniform orientation, making it as equally bewitching as the mountains.

With nothing but black ink pen, Rijneveld shows that artworks in black and white also have their own unique beauty. On top of that, the clever use of lines and dots is enough to depict majestic scenery such as mountainous landscapes. The talented artist started drawing as a therapeutic hobby that later turned into a passion. Indeed, each piece of her pointillist line drawings emits peaceful aura that can soothe even the most troubled mind.
