Back in November 2015, 17-year old Maddie Cable was involved in an accident when her mom Linda’s car hydroplaned and crashed. Poor Maddie fractured her T12 vertebra and subsequently had to have pins and rods inserted to stabilize the injury. Maddie was told that she would have to wear a back brace for a minimum of six weeks afterwards.

She was naturally self-conscious about wearing the brace until her friend Sarah came up with a plan. The two steampunk fans gave the brace an awesome makeover to create a super cool-looking item.
