Shay Rose is quickly rising to fame as a fashion designer on social media for her innovative designs and creations that perfectly embody the current trends. She impressed the fashion world with her ‘social distancing gown’, ‘fiber optic dress’, and ‘green screen dress’. In addition to her original creations, the young dressmaker is also known for her impressive recreations of celebrity gowns, Disney princess costumes, and Barbie dresses. Her latest project, the Penny Dress, is bedazzling everyone with its stunning iridescence and its shining, shimmering splendor.
Chainmail Dress Made Out of Pennies

Rose began the Penny Dress project in December 2021 and completed the piece on January 26, 2022. On her Instagram post, the talented artist revealed that the chainmail cocktail dress is handmade from 2,652 pennies which are worth $26.52 in total. After cleaning the copper coins thoroughly, she drilled holes along the sides and sew the pieces together to make the lustrous dress. The sparkling piece also features cross-back strap bodice and bottom fringe skirt that Rose herself modeled in the photos and videos.
“I love how you can actually see each individual penny and how they make up the top, but when you step back it all [burst] together into this sparkly shiny piece.”, she wrote.

With her avant-garde fashion ideas, people eagerly await what her next fashion statement would be. Rose said that she currently has a couple of ideas for her next project and her followers are excited about it. Despite the overwhelming demand, Rose said that she doesn’t do commissions.
