Successful people in various industries would share their inspiring stories to motivate individuals in pushing their boundaries and make their dreams come true. Most of them acknowledge that passion, courage, recognition, and the desire to win in life are their greatest motivators to success. Kosovo-Albanian fashion designer Teuta Matoshi shares her own success story to encourage aspirants in the fashion industry to focus on their dreams and work hard to attain it. Furthermore, the famous couturier also spurs successful people to always look back where they came from no matter how far they get.

Before she became world-famous for her ethereal high-end gowns, she had struggled with poverty as a child. Born in a war-torn Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, she learned how to create clothing by reusing old garments and scrap pieces for her and her eight siblings. This sparked her passion for fashion design at a young age. So when she was in high school, she was already set on becoming a fashion designer and open her own boutique someday.

After high school, she pursued a Fashion Degree at Factory Design University in Pristina. She trained under the wings of Parisian professor David Priol who taught her the art of draping and styling. Although she was heavily inspired by her mentor, she showed everyone that she has her own creative practice and unique style. After she had completed the degree, she opened her own shop in Pristina in 2007. Her fashion line initially specialized in high-quality jackets before she shifted her focus on haute couture gowns.

Her fashion line became a leading luxury brand in Kosovo. And with the help of social media, she gained international recognition for her ‘princess-like’ gowns that are adored by ladies all around the world. In 2019, she opened an atelier in SoHo, Manhattan as she continues to amass more clients.

Today, she is internationally well-known for her whimsical feminine gowns and dresses with astonishing embroidery and embellishments. Her mesmerizing style caught the attention of some famous celebrities when she held runway shows in New York City and Dubai. These include Taylor Swift, vlogger Carli Bybel, fashion and lifestyle editor Bella Gerard, and many more.

Despite her worldwide fame, the sought-after fashion designer forgets to give back to her community in Pristina. She made it her mission to hire as many local women in Pristina as possible, including single moms who lost their husbands in the war as well as young designers who want to hone their skills. You can buy Matoshi’s fabulous gowns and dresses on her online shop or follow her on Instagram to keep updated with her latest projects.
