Pepsi Cola has another unusual sip coming our way in 2021. And it seems to be their follow up to the Pepsi Cafe and the Pepsi Apple Pie. But, if you thought their apple pie soda was unusual, this latest combination will make your jaw drop. Why? Well, have you ever tried soda that tastes like hot chocolate and marshmallows? It’s no secret that we have all gotten a bit inventive with our sodas at some point. But I think we can all agree that the fizzy soda and decadent hot chocolate were the drinks that we never thought we’d live to sip together.
The official introduction of the new Pepsi flavor broke out on Twitter on December 17th, 2020. Needless to say, everyone was floored. In their rather cheeky announcement, Pepsi wrote that their new Cocoa flavor is probably the sweetest way to bid the worst year ever farewell. According to the announcement, the chocolate flavor-infused fizzy drink is the latest achievement of the Pepsi Test Kitchen. And they needed at least 2,021 RTs to get the production started.

Pepsi has a cocoa-flavored soda coming
The brand didn’t have to wait long for their announcement to hit the 2,021 RT mark. In fact, as of writing, the now-viral tweet has over 6.4K RTs and over 4.5K likes! This should be more than enough to confirm how thirsty the world is for Cocoa Cola! In a press release, Todd Kaplan, vice president of marketing at Pepsi, said:
“There is nothing more classic that hot cocoa on a winter day, but this year has been anything but typical. So why not bring together the delicious taste of a Pepsi with the delicious, wintery taste of chocolate and marshmallow and bring some unexpected joy to our fans this season? We are confident we nailed Pepsi “Cocoa” Cola and can’t wait to get this in the hands of cola fans this winter.”

After fans rose to the challenge of re-tweeting their announcement 2,021 times, Pepsi replied with yet another teasing statement. The brand will reveal more details about the Cocoa Cola in 2021, according to their follow-up tweet. But if you’re like me, then you’re probably already wondering how this chocolate and marshmallow flavor-infused cola will taste. Will it taste like an ice cream float or will it fall flat from our favorites? We can only really tell once we’ve had that first sip. So we’re definitely keeping an eye out for the first batch of this quirky new Pepsi offering!
