As parents, you can never expect your children to fully pay attention to their teachers in school. Sometimes, it’s just inevitable for them to chat with their seatmates, play, eat, sleep, or even doodle in class. They’re just kids after all. But oftentimes, they get in trouble by doing so. And as parents, your first course of action would probably reprimand them and not encourage that behavior. However, nine-year-old Joe Whale’s parents did otherwise. Now, people dub their son as The Doodle Boy. Who would’ve thought that doodling could actually help Joe land his first job at a very young age?

Well, every kid in this world would probably wish to have parents as supportive as Joe’s parents. Because instead of scolding young Joe for doodling in class, they even enrolled him in an after-school art class. Talk about parenting goals, huh? And as a matter of fact, Joe’s talent is no surprise to them. According to his father Greg, Joe has always loved drawing. Besides, he was also part of his school’s Gifted Register at age four.

As such, it’s not at all surprising that Joe’s teacher immediately recognized his potentials and even shared his works online. The young artist’s perky doodles caught the attention of the staff of the restaurant Number Four located in Shrewsbury, England. Soon after, they invited Joe to fill their dining area walls with his adorable illustrations.

Instead of scolding him, his parents even enrolled him in an after-school drawing class to further hone his skills.

Of course, Joe and his family positively responded to this offer. At that time, Greg even personally drove Joe to the restaurant after his classes. There’s no doubt that Joe’s family was fully supportive of his doodling stint.

“Joe loves doodling and we’re so proud of everything he’s achieving, the fact that a completely independent business has asked our 9-year old son to do a professional piece of work for them is incredible.”

Likewise, his works caught the attention of the staff of the restaurant Number Four.

Likewise, for Greg, parents really play a vital role in nurturing and honing their kids’ talents.

“I would advise parents to encourage their children to always follow their passion and dreams — research local workshops or groups within your local community.”

From doodling on his notebooks, Joe now has the entire restaurant’s dining area walls to fill with his drawings.

All in all, it took Joe about 12 hours to finish his masterpiece. And the result was simply amazing. Now, Joe already has his own website and social media handles where he shares his works. We look forward to his official merchandise being available on sale on his site.
