Let your eyes and mind wander in the meticulous worlds drawn by American artist Benjamin Sack.   There’s a deep mutual connection between art and architecture as they both feed on another in terms of visual elements, organizing principles, and engagement of the senses. We’ve seen several structures inspired by famous artworks, with iconic masterpieces transformed into magnificent buildings.

Vice versa, many artists also find inspiration in stunning architectural works. We were mesmerized by paintings and sketches that capture the beauty and glamor of cities around the world. With clear-cut details, it’s as if we’re transported into the actual city, looking at some of the most famous urban landmarks through the canvas. Sack, on the other hand, specializes in abstract urbanism where he creates an imaginary world with unimaginably intricate buildings in complex spatial presentation. His architecture drawings exhibit a range of geometric details from intricate mazes and angular arrangements to soft curves that deliver a sense of scale.

Sack creates fantastical metropolises using pen and paper, inviting the eye to get lost into the kaleidoscopic world of lines and dots. Within the invisible wall, his enthralling architecture drawings encapsulate both the microscopic and the infinite as the artist bridges the gap between abstraction and realism.

Each maze-like city is set out against the black and white backdrop of the outer space to show the infinity of the universe. But a closer look lets you discover infinitesimal details, some of which can only be discerned with the help of a magnifying glass.

There’s a lot to explore within the borders of Sack’s architecture drawings, from viewing the ‘big picture’ down to getting a closer look at the miniature details. And just like how the talented artist successfully fills in the space between the real and imaginary, his work also bridges the gap between time by uniting classical, modernist, and futuristic architectural styles.
