Ceramicist Sean Forest Roberts Creates His Pottery Using Multiple Layers Of Color

Sean Forest Roberts, the artist behind the ceramic carving Forest Ceramic Company, showcases his talent in creating surface patterns in porcelain materials. If you’re into ceramic carving and a bit of chemistry, then you should probably check out his techniques.

Having a background in chemistry and science experimentation, Roberts has introduced a new approach to his ceramic arts. He’s quite fascinated in marbling designs, and this has caught the world’s attention.

The Washington-based artist shares a few insights into how he produces the ceramic carvings through videos that mesmerize viewers. While watching them, you’ll feel a certain kind of satisfaction. With differently shaped metal tools, the ceramic creative digs little by little from the surface of each porcelain. Then, he meticulously reveals hidden colors beneath the grey ceramics.

Sean Roberts varies the shapes of his carvings. Some are meandering curves, while others are circle and somewhat resemble polka dots.
