When it comes to craftsmanship and creativity, the artistic prowess of Japanese artists is undoubtedly a cut above the rest. In all honesty, no one could’ve thought of turning manholes into colorful artworks. But only Japanese artists did. Also, no one could’ve ever considered using a vast rice field as an art canvas. But Japanese artists did. Needless to say, they can turn almost anything into a remarkable masterpiece. Balloons, for example, are just ordinary decoration pieces for most people. But Japanese artist Masayoshi Matsumoto can create amazingly detailed sculptures by twisting colorful balloons. Colorful twisted balloon sculptures are not new to us because we’ve seen a lot of them. Matsumoto’s creations, on the other hand, are unlike any balloon sculpture we’ve seen before.

Matsumoto’s colorful twisted balloon sculptures present elaborate details, making the figures look more realistic. His balloon sculptures often take the form of birds, insects, sea creatures, land animals, and plants. By varying the colors and forms of the balloons, he was able to render realistic details of each animal. From the main body down to the smallest details such as eyes, antennae, claws, and beaks, every detail is clearly evident. Furthermore, the glossy balloon shell provides an ideal material for shelled animals such as crabs, lobsters, and beetles.
