If your pet loves to eat berries, let them have them. But keep in mind that cats and dogs are primarily carnivores. Hence, fruits should not become a part of their regular diet. And it should only be given to them in moderation. But for herbivore animals such as rabbits and tortoises, they can have as many as berries as they like.
Strawberries, cherries and raspberries get their red bloody colors due to the combination of sugar molecules and anthocyanidins. The red color becomes more apparent as they ripen at which time sugars become more concentrated in the fruit. Both the sweet flavor and the captivating color of the fruit are enough to attract animals. And when they do, it could turn into a terrifying scene that we usually see in zombie movies.
