Cookies are undeniably one of our favorite go-to munchies. More so if they are freshly baked from the oven. However, not everyone is fond of the meticulous baking procedure, not to mention the cleaning up and dishwashing that come after. Thankfully, ready-to-bake cookie doughs now exist, with the ones from Pillsbury topping our list. Sure, chocolate chip cookies remain to be an all-time classic. However, we just couldn’t help but get all giddy over the brand’s new and improved Strawberry Cheesecake Cookie Dough.
Yes, you’ve read that right! The cookie dough variant is back with new packaging. Instagram user @candyhunting was among the first to share a photo of Pillsbury’s latest offering on shelves. According to the post, one of their followers, @msbritt1474, spotted it at a Woodman’s store.
In case you’ve missed it, the Strawberry Cheesecake Cookie Dough variant first hit the stores early last year

Mini Review! New Pillsbury Strawberry Cheesecake cookies! ?? ??????????????? The limited edition Pillsbury break and bake cookies have an excellent record in my books, with the Cinnabon flavor receiving a rare 10/10. I actually cried when I first tried those… Naturally, I have high expectations for this new variety. Thank the Pillsbury Dough Boy, it holds up to the precedent set by its predecessors! The strawberry flavor is bright (almost like there's some citrus in here, too) and really pops against the cookie backdrop. It does taste a bit artificial once the cookie flavor has diminished and it's just strawberry. Also, the cookie does taste like cheesecake. It has a tangy note in addition to the traditional sugar cookie flavor. ??? ?????????????? Overall, I ate four of these while writing this review (I think it's been about 5 minutes). They're fantastic. 9/10. Bought these at Hy-Vee.
As with any other Pillsbury ready-to-bake cookie dough packs, this improved variant includes precut cookie dough pieces. As such, this significantly cuts down your prep time by half or even more! So, all that’s left for you to do is place the cookie dough pieces on a greased cookie sheet. Afterward, you can proceed to pop them into the oven to bake.
But unlike most Pillsbury cookie dough packs that give you 24 pieces, this one gives you 12 giant pieces. Also, the new pack now comes with a “safe to eat raw” seal. So, on the off chance that you don’t have an oven at home or are simply lazy to prep a cookie sheet, then you can proceed to eat it as it is.
Apparently, the returning variant is not the only one bearing the “safe to eat raw seal.” In another post featuring the Chocolate Chunk and Chip Cookie Dough variant, @candyhunting detailed the brand’s formulation update.

Pillsbury now makes cookie dough that is safe to eat raw! The new formulation uses heat treated flour and pasteurized eggs to kill off possible food borne pathogens (mainly Salmonella) prior to baking the cookies. I found this Chocolate Chunk & Chip variety with the new safe to eat raw seal at Hy-Vee. All Pillsbury cookie dough will transition to this new formula by the end of summer 2020.
Well, this is certainly good news for all cookie (dough) lovers out there! In terms of pricing, we’re guessing it’s about the same as its previous version which retailed for $5 for two packs. Sadly, it remains to be a limited edition offering as indicated on the packaging. So, that gives you all the more reason to hunt for it on your next grocery run!
