A cat curling up and getting all cozy as it prepares to sleep is always a relaxing sight to behold. So, Russia-based artist Tatiana, aka Taniko Ga, has taken inspiration from this comfy sleeping position for her handcrafted tableware. She creates charming ceramic cat plates, each featuring a curled-up feline that’s off to slumberland. Featuring cats of different coat colors and patterns, her ceramic creations also easily double as unique decorative pieces.
Tatiana sculpts each piece from white clay, oven-bakes it and glazes it for a glossy finish. She also paints every detail by the hand—from the fur pattern, tail, paws, whiskers, nose, eyes and ears. Generally, no pieces are identical as each plate is entirely unique on its own. Each plate also features a pair of pointed cat ears and a charmingly swooped tail, complementing its round shape.

Each piece measures 5.9 inches long, 5.9 inches wide and 0.8 inches deep. Tatiana also accepts custom orders, so you can have your plate made in another size or with a special inscription. Likewise, you can request for it to have a metal loop on the reverse side for hanging.

These plates are not just amazing decorative pieces, they’re also great as jewelry dishes or even as dessert dishes. Without a doubt, they make a wonderful gift for feline fanatics who just can’t get enough of cat-themed merchandise.
Tatiana’s lovely ceramic creations are all available for purchase on her Etsy store. Being a self-proclaimed cat lover herself, Tatiana also sells other cat-inspired novelty items including drawer pulls and figurines. On her page, she also explained her fascination for ceramics as a medium for her creations.
“I love cats very much! (I know you too) Or at least someone close to you loves them. I also love ceramics. It gives almost limitless opportunities for the realization of my ideas! For these reasons, my shop is mostly ceramic cats in a variety of variations – from a small ring to a large plate!”
