Us human beings can be incredibly wasteful creatures. In recent decades in particular, we’ve become more and more accustomed to simply throwing stuff out as soon as it gets even a little bit worn or damaged. Atsatsa Antonio is a self-taught blacksmith. He’s not exactly an expert at his chosen craft yet but he’s made plenty of awesome, functional knives out of rusting junk. His goal? To demonstrate what he describes as the ‘insanity’ of our wasteful society. As part of his project, Antonio’s made blades out of all sorts of ‘throwaway’ items, including old files, rebars and chainsaw chains. Take a look at the results of his work!
