Do you have your sugar skull succulents for Diá de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) already? If not, we suggest you head on over to Trader Joe’s immediately before they vanish into thin air.  In Mexican culture, sugar skulls are used to celebrate the Day of the Dead, which is a solemn but festive holiday. These skulls are usually made with sugar (hence its name) but can also be ceramic. And sometimes, plants are added to give this festive decor a functional purpose.

These colorful sugar skull succulents will literally breathe life into your home.

Just like they did for the first release of this product, Trader Joe’s is offering two variants of the colorful planters. You can get these Tillandsias (air plants) in mini ceramic skulls for $3.99 each or in grande ceramic skulls for $9.99 each. The size difference is pretty obvious, so be careful to choose the right one for your space and lifestyle.

Tillandsias are very low maintenance plants. They’re perfect for someone who’s trying out indoor plants for the first time as they don’t require much attention. All they need is some mist and sunshine to thrive!

The ceramic skulls come in a variety of brilliant colors. You can choose from pink, purple, light blue, dark blue, red, white, and black, all with colorful and eye-catching designs. They’re all so beautiful that we’re having a hard time picking one out! (If you don’t have any problem spending some green though, you can always get them all and complete the set.)
