A feline fancier known as 'Des', of the 'Cat Catching Crew', has turned her spare bedroom into a sanctuary for strays. Des fostered her first kitty a year and a half ago, on behalf of the 'Human Society'. The experience inspired her to start fostering on her own. She now roams the neighborhood catching stray and feral cats. She fosters them until they are sufficiently socialized, before taking them to the local non-kill shelter, or finding them a home herself. There have been times when the kitties are too feral to be socialized. These are spayed or neutered and then returned to the streets. Some of them even come back and visit Des regularly!
