Artist Uses Their Photoshop Skills To Turn Ordinary Animals Into Minecraft-Inspired Cubed Animals

Have you ever wondered how animals from Minecraft would be like if we take them out from the virtual world and into the real world? Digital imaging artist Aditya Aryanto from Jakarta, Indonesia, uses Photoshop to merge the blocky virtual world with our real world in his series called Anicube. The series features photos of cubed animals and they were like something straight out of Minecraft. With square-shaped heads and bodies, Aryanto seamlessly brings the pixelated creatures to life.

Aryanto digitally alters public domain photos, so the animals on the pics are real. He then uses a special filtering tool in Photoshop called Liquify that allows him to distort or reshape any area of an image. This powerful tool lets him retouch the subject by pushing or pulling the edges to achieve the desired shape. In this case, changing the original shapes into squares to create cubed animals from Minecraft. Aryanto leaves the background as they were, creating a contrast between the virtual world and the real world.

Cubed animals living in Minecraft is just normal but placing them in the real world indeed look disturbing. Cats, dogs, bears, tigers, rabbits, and more – all the featured animals on the photos will intrigue you with their block-like bodies and square heads. They may look odd but we can’t also deny the fact that they are also fascinating to look at.
