Artist David Zinn Brings A Bit Of Fun To The Streets With His Adorable Chalk Art

Street art has transformed dull urban areas into vivid artworks as more and more street artists are trying to morph communities into colorful masterpieces. One of whom is David Zinn who brings the sidewalks of Michigan to life with his charming chalk art. This professional artist uses colorful chalks to create cartoon-like characters on sidewalks and walls throughout the city. Amusingly, he cleverly makes use of the cracks and holes to incorporate his drawings into the surroundings.

Without any fancy material or equipment, Zinn draws fantastical characters appearing on random places. His delightful chalk art features affable aliens, winged pigs, cute tiny dragons, and other wondrous creatures emerging from the ground, peeking through a crack on the wall, or just sitting on the sidewalk. But unlike any other street art we’ve so far, Zinn’s creations are ephemeral as each piece can only last up to 10 days if left untouched onto sidewalks. Furthermore, the drawings can immediately be washed away in the rain, making their short-lived existence even more appreciated.

Zinn has been revitalizing the sidewalks of Ann Arbor, Michigan with his fascinating chalk art since 1987. Although most of his creations appear on sidewalks of Michigan, he had also brought his adorable creatures to other places including Sweden and Taiwan. The talented artist gained global notoriety when pics of his creations were shared on various social media platforms. Zinn shares all of his tricks and techniques for making happier sidewalk art on his book called The Chalk Art Handbook that you can buy on his online shop. Prints and postcards featuring some of his most lovable creations are also available for purchase.
