Polar bears are at the top of the Arctic food chain, yet their populations are going downhill. If the polar bear were to become extinct, scientists predict their absence would cause havoc on the entire Arctic food chain. Research teams are currently monitoring the polar bear and they've found the remaining bears are already migrating to an area known as 'The Last Ice Area'. In other words, the area environmentalists believe will be the last piece of ice polar bears will be able to live on after 2040, when most of the Artic ice will have melted.
