Now in its 27th year, the National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest showcases some of the most awesome travel shots you'll ever see. Open to both amateur and professional photographers, this year there were more than 17,000 entries from across the world, in categories including Travel Portraits, Outdoor Scenes, Sense of Place and Spontaneous Moments. The big winner was Anuar Patjane Floriuk, who won the "grand prize" for his amazing underwater shot of divers swimming close to a humpback whale near Roca Partida, an island off the western coast of Mexico.
