Mini Succulent Christmas Trees Are A New Trend This Year

Decking the halls for the holiday season is no easy feat. We’ve got to untangle Christmas lights and make sure our décor is arranged as nicely as possible. And of course, no holiday setup would be complete without a grandiose tree! But did you know that the traditional trees – the real and the faux ones – aren’t exactly good for the environment? Manufacturing a single 6.5ft tree alone produces around 40kg worth of greenhouse emissions. Meanwhile, letting a real tree decompose in a landfill will produce large quantities of methane gas. So why not consider getting a succulent Christmas tree this year?

Amanda Ryan, who runs the Etsy shop Terracotta Corner, came up with this awesome holiday decoration idea. Her shop specializes in offering custom-arranged succulent plants like wreaths and bouquets. She even placed succulents inside a jingle bell! However, I think we can all agree that her Christmas tree creations capture the festive spirit of the holidays the best.

Etsy shop Terracotta Corner has two succulent Christmas tree arrangements up for grabs just in time for the holiday season

There are two succulent tree options available: the Aurora Tree and the Alpine Tree. Approximately 25 Echeverias make up the Aurora Succulent Tree. Moss, pinecones and an adorable star-shaped tree-topper are also included in this whimsical living ‘tree’. On the other hand, the Alpine Tree is adorned with over 50 Haworthias and a dozen of other succulent plants like Echeverias, Graptoverias and Sedus. Its darker tones give Alpine Tree a more Christmas tree-like vibe in comparison with the brighter color scheme of the Aurora Tree.

Both these living Christmas trees are 13-inches tall and also come with similar care instructions. All you’ve got to do to keep your succulent tree happy is to spray it with water in intervals of 10 to 14 days.

Then, when you notice the plants beginning to outgrow the tree, you can simply pluck them out and re-pot them in a container they’ll be more comfortable growing in. This will surely make a wonderful addition to anyone’s indoor plant collection. Any plant parent would adore this! So don’t miss your chance! Get yours here.
