Laws have been around for almost as long as human civilization, so you can bet there have been some strange ones over the years. The thing about laws is that, once you make them, it's hard to stop and discontinue them, as it were. So, in many cases, rather than going through the process of abolishing a law, countries will simply keep the law and stop enforcing it. While this renders it essentially void, officially speaking the law in question still exists. That said, there are also plenty of laws that are totally outdated, but are still enforced!
