Italian artist Simone Crestani has been blowing glass since he was 15 years old. He comes from the Venice region, where working with glass is one of the traditional crafts, so this type of art is in his blood. Crestani creates beautiful glass sculptures that combine his love of glass work with his love of the natural world. These glass plants and animals have a magical and ethereal quality, as though they were formed of ice. Talking about his work, Crestani writes…

"I can say that I have two big passions so far in my life – glass and nature. Therefore, in my works I try to combine both of them – I give my sculptures natural shapes. The technique I use is called flameworking which means using a strong flame for melting and sculpting glass. Anyway, during the years of practice I have already developed my personal technique of glass blowing."
