Artist Shinji Nakaba Creates Delicate Skull Jewelry From Pearls

These incredibly delicate and detailed pearl skulls are mesmerizingly beautiful. They are the work of Tokyo-based jewelry designer Shinji Nakaba. Nakaba has been creating his unusual pieces since 1974 and uses all sorts to do so. From stones and precious metals to old plastic bottles and garbage… he finds a use for virtually anything in his work! Nakaba often carves the word "Vanitas" onto his skulls which is likely a reference and tribute to 16th-17th century funeral art. Take a look!
