When Viewed From A Certain Angle These Floating Balls Form An Eye

 

'Perpetual Shift' by Michael Murphy is a sculpture which changes as the angle of the viewer changes. From many angles, the work looks like a mass of disordered black circles floating in mid air. However from the right angle, a highly detailed eye can be seen.

 

Murphy has been working on his 2D images in 3D spaces for 20 years, and views them as mobiles for grown ups. The inspiration for this piece was to highlight the data collection and surveillance currently being undertaken by the US government.
