Maija Astikainen Photographs Dogs As If They Were Homeowners

It's funny how we often think of our pets, especially dogs, as being almost human…or at least as being something between human and animal. They are commonly readily accepted as one of the gang, and treated just like any other family member. This is a concept Finnish photographer Maija Astikainen became interested in as she worked on her photo project, "One-Dog-Policy". Shooting portraits of pet dogs relaxing in their home environments, without any humans around, allowed her to imagine the dogs as being homeowners, themselves.
