    Nothing reminds you of the earth’s fury more than a great, giant hole. Whether it’s a scary sink hole that’s swallowed up buildings, or a massive underwater hole that’s just so deep you can’t imagine what could be down there, giant holes are one scary phenomenon. Check out the below holes in the earth’s surface. They will totally freak you out! 

    Dean’s Blue Hole, Long Island, Bahamas. 660ft deep. A blue hole is one where the entrance is below sea level. Dean’s Blue Hole is the deepest sea water blue hole in the world.

    Mt Baldy Sink Hole Indiana, 11 feet deep. These weird holes are starting to appear all around the Mt Baldy Sand Dune area near Lake Michigan. One even swallowed a child in 2011. Luckily, he was dug out after three hours.

    Ice Cube Neutrino Observatory Hole (1 of 86) 1.5 miles deep. These holes were dug using heated pipes. They are used by researchers at the South Pole Telescope.

    Great Blue Hole, Belize, 407ft deep. Jacques Cousteau said this hole was one of the top scuba diving sites in the world.

    Glory Hole, Monticello Dam, California, 304 ft deep. This hole is a man made dam that can drain up to 48,000 cubic feet of water per second!

    2010 Guatemala City sink hole, 100 ft deep. In 2010, this terrifying hole appeared in Guatemala City zone 2, completely swallowing an entire three story building. Scary stuff!
