Father and son Australian beekeepers Stuart and Cedar Anderson have created the Flow Hive which allows beekeepers to harvest honey without ever disturbing their bees. How it works is that the bees are given a partially completed honeycomb wall to which they add their own wax. When the cells are filled with honey and waxed over by the bees, the keeper opens the other end, harvests the golden liquid and the bees are never disturbed. The process then goes on when the bees re-open the cells and refill them. With the worry of colony collapse disorder hanging over honey bee enthusiasts, this new invention might just help save some bees from stress.
