But, did you know that due to feather loss, the lucky ones who are rescued from this pitiful life never acclimatize to the weather conditions they will face as a free range bird? Nicola Congdon and her mother Ann, who live in Falmouth in Cornwall, England, own about 60 hens! All of their hens are ex-battery birds, accustomed to barely surviving in cramped cages. Because the women were worried about them getting cold, now that they're free to run around outside, they kind-heartedly went ahead and knitted the hens their very own tiny sweaters! Take a look!
