These Sprouting Hairpins Are The Latest Chinese Fashion Craze

In September of this year, in the Chinese city of Chengu, a new and bizarre craze ‘sprouted’ up. The trend is now seeing people all over China wearing bizarre sprouting hairpins and other plants on them. Men, women and children have embraced the sprout craze and can be seen on the streets with the plastic plants sticking up from their heads. The pins sell for the equivalent of around 1USD. Sociologist Gao Xuanyang explained to CNN that ‘People need something fresh to enrich their mundane life. Be it a hairclip, a purse or a t-shirt. The ones who follow the trend don’t really want to know the meaning behind it. They only want to show off their hipness by wearing the sprout clips.’ Check them out!
