Widely known children’s book author Richard Scarry has created more than 300 books since 1949. But, what you may not have known is as time and society has progressed, Scarry has been quietly and subtly editing his books to make sure that new generations of children wouldn’t be influenced by out of date gender norms. You’ll notice the roles of men and women in the book are now much fairer and the use of gender neutral titles, jobs and clothes are now included. We think this is great!
