For photographer Julie Wilson, losing her sister Dina four years ago was one of the hardest things to ever happen. Dina had Down Syndrome and sadly died from congestive heart failure, which is common in people with this condition. However, she lived for twice as long as doctors predicted, which is incredible in itself. Julie decided to do this awesome photoshoot featuring children who have the disorder to honor her sister and bring awareness. She says that growing up with Dina as part of their family was a blessing, and would like to vanquish the negative stereotypes that often go along with Down Syndrome. Currently, the abortion rate for people who find out their child might have Down Syndrome is 92 percent, and she wants to make people think twice about their options. "Dina was the best thing that could have ever happened to our family. She taught us what true unconditional love is and how to go through life without worries. She would light up any room that she walked into and people were always drawn to her sweet, yet stubborn personality."
