Although you'd think that people of all genders should be equal in 2015, the sad truth is that women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields are drastically underrepresented and often face additional challenges, such as not being taken seriously in the workplace. Artist Rachel Ignotofsky wanted to celebrate the accomplishments of some of the brilliant women, past and present, who have made contributions to science. In doing so, she hopes she might spark the imaginations of young women and encourage them to further explore their potential in scientific fields. The illustrations themselves are pretty rad, too!
