If you're not yet initiated into the world of cosplay, there are a few things you need to know. The word "cosplay" is a portmanteau of "costume" and "play," and is basically dressing up with a twist. Avid cosplayers usually sew, craft and otherwise create their own costumes as a form of artistic expression. In order to be classed as a cosplayer, you generally need to be dressed as someone from a book, comic, tv show or movie, and more often than not characters chosen are popular within geek culture.
