We might be in the 21st century but a lot of people still hold the archaic belief that women can either be smart or beautiful, not both. And, that if a woman cares too much about her appearance, that automatically makes her an airhead. But, if there's anyone who proves that isn't true, it's the character Elle Woods from Legally Blonde. On the surface, it might not seem like a particularly inspirational movie, but Elle is actually an amazing role model, and here are twelve reasons why!

She used her niche knowledge to her advantage, and wasn't embarrassed by it.

She got to the point where her academic achievements became way more important to her than a bad relationship.
She was always willing to help out her friends.
She knew how important it is to believe in yourself.
She didn't let people bring her down even when they tried to make a fool of her.
She was civil to her rival, despite the fact she had been awful to her.
